Stress is an all too common word in today’s society. I believe stress is becoming more common and severe as the years progress. I get stressed easily as a new mom that works from home. I have had many stressful situations in my life, but I always have my go to ways to relieve stress that are fun too.

1. Sing

This is my all time favorite stress reliever. If I am singing more than usual (yes I sing a lot without being stressed), then I am probably stressed. I’ll blare the music and sing driving down the road. You may catch me singing while working out at the gym. With headphones on, sometimes I don’t realize that I’m actually singing out loud! My favorite though is turning on YouTube and searching karaoke videos. I’ll sit at my computer and just sing. I have been known to sit at the computer and sing all night. I have even been known to drink a few glasses of wine while singing karaoke…to myself…in an empty house which leads to me dancing and pretending I’m putting on a concert. Singing= instant happiness

2. Bubble Bath

This one has been hard to accomplish since becoming a mommy. The feel of hot water instantly melts my stress away. Before I became Mommy, I would take a bubble bath every night. I don’t always use bubbles because they can irritate the skin…and other things. I’ll grab a glass of wine, a good book or magazine, and just soak. Sometimes I’ll play some quiet music too. Sometimes during the day, I just really need to de-stress in the tub. I’ll bring in a bunch of toys and let Sicily play on the floor while I soak for a few minutes. It usually ends up being full of bath toys. Sicily swears I need toys to play with, so she will throw all her bath toys in with me.

3. Drive

Just drive! Get in the car and go. You don’t have to have a destination, and blaring the music helps de-stress even quicker. I like driving down back country roads when I’m stressed. I imagine that the twists and turns are obstacles in my life that I need to overcome. Driving past each “obstacle” helps relieve stress associated with those life obstacles.

4. Cuddle

Just cuddling with my daughter or my husband makes me forget about the stresses in life. Spending time with the ones you love helps put things in perspective. Cuddling helps me realize what’s really important in life and why I’m doing what I’m doing.

5. Binge Watch TV

Sometimes you just need to turn your brain off and just watch TV. Put yourself outside of the world. Don’t worry about what you’re not getting done by watching TV. Just be in the moment.
