When I first started this blog I wrote the tagline as Homeschooling with a Passion. As I continued to develop the blog I started to realize that most of my posts right now are not about homeschooling because Sicily is still young. I couldn’t have a tagline about homeschooling when my blog was about other things as well.

After writing my first two posts, My Dreams Can Become my Reality and Failure is Only the Beginning, I realized that this blog will mostly be about growing into the individuals we want to be. When I started this blog I was struggling with who I was. I had went through a lot of changes over the past year; Sicily was born, husband left because he was scared to be a parent, education was changing, a new (and MUCH better) man in my life. I had started this blog about two months into the new school year. I had been home with Sicily for the summer and was going back to work with the perspective of a mother rather than a teacher. With this new perspective I began to  struggle with the path education was taking.

I started to see these posts on Facebook from veteran teachers who just up and left because of the state of our educational field. I needed to do something. I couldn’t just sit back and teach these students in a way that went against my beliefs, so I began reading Steve Harvey’s Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success. That man has a lot of power in inspiring others to be the best they can be. To GROW into the individuals they want to be.

I quit my teaching job the day before Thanksgiving. I was overwhelmed. I really didn’t know what to feel. I was sad to leave my students. I felt horrible for leaving them stranded in the middle of the year. But I also felt peaceful. I felt like for once in my life I stood up for my beliefs. I was GROWING into the individual that I wanted to be. That’s where the tagline for this blog came from. It came from me growing into this new person.

Our journeys never hinder our abilities to grow into the people we want to be. All of us envy at least one other person. We all want to change something about ourselves. I started this blog with the intention of sharing our homeschooling experience, but now I am writing this blog to encourage others to GROW into whoever they want to be. I’m hoping all of my posts will have some aspect of growing whether it be a way to be healthy or a post about a really neat science experiment. So my friend, I invite YOU to Come Grow with Us.

Your Turn:

What changes do you want to make in your life to grow into the person you envision?

Much Love,
